QLD: Immigration catches another 19 illegal workers = 2

Mr Ruddock said his department regularly cross-checked information about individuals with
other commonwealth agencies such as the Australian Tax Office and Medicare.

"People who are located as being in the country illegally or are found to be working
illegally face having their visa cancelled and being detained and removed from Australia," he
said.

"Their details are also placed on the department's Movement Alert List (MAL) which means
that any future application to visit Australia will be more carefully scrutinised."

Mr Ruddock also warned employers, particularly in rural Australia, to make sure workers are
entitled to work in Australia.
